Don't adjust your computer monitor - those aren't hobbit feet you're looking at. They're the "feet" and cankles of a lady 8 months pregnant with twins - forged in the fires of Mordor. My ankles have become cankles because it's hard to tell where the calf ends and the ankle begins. They're bloated to twice their size. I guess since my pregnancy has gone so well, I can deal with some cankles, but they're none too pretty to gaze upon. And they itch. What's a girl to do? At least they're not hairy like the hobbit feet. Could be worse, right? Is it too early to start wearing flip flops?Thursday, February 28, 2008

Week 31
...Getting closer to the due date! Mark and I took an infant CPR class this week, which scared the bejeezus out of both of us, I think. But being the goofs we are, we couldn't let this photo-op pass and we snuck some pictures when no one was looking.
Oh man. Dad's feeling what it will be like with 2 baby girls - won't be long now! It will be especially lovely if they're both crying like they appear to be doing in this picture. Or maybe they're just singing Bohemian Rhapsody....
Ah - the choking baby action shot. This is where you turn the infant over and whack them firmly on the back. Hopefully, the bambinas will remember to chew every bite thoroughly before swallowing. And though they look delicious and it is sometimes hard to resist, eating legos is a bad idea.

The Landlord
I think this is the best thing Will Ferrell has ever done. The video itself has been removed from YouTube for the longest time, but I accidentally found it on another website. Enjoy it now because it may not be here very much longer.

30 Week Sonogram
Yesterday, Mark and I went to have our 30 week sonogram taken. They were able to get a clear shot of "Baby A's" face. The nurse said she had a "pouty" look on her face. Pouty?!!?! I think it's clear that this child is a perfect mixture of Kilroy from the Mr. Roboto video and Mr. Bill. What do YOU think?
Marisue's Birthday
Here we are celebrating Marisue's Birthday (in the plum shirt) at JP's Winebar downtown. It was a cold night, but we had a really great time and met some fun new friends! Not only are the cocktails, appetizers, and wine good at JP's, the ice water is exquisite!!! I had plenty of it while doing my best Delta Burke impression - the camera adds 10 lbs, y'all. -KKWednesday, February 06, 2008
The Girls' Nursery (Phase 2)
Mom and dad finally got the dresser they ordered for us nearly a month ago. It came yesterday and they said it looks better than they remembered. Now they will begin phase 2 of our nursery, which will consist of hanging more artwork on the wall and putting our clothes into the dresser and closet.
Mom also spent some time putting our new stuffed animal friends in our crib so we'll have someone to snuggle with when we get there. We have our frog humidifier ready to go, too. We think dad has been using it lately because we've heard him complaining about the dry winter air. Mom made us a bulletin board to go above the dresser and we will soon put pictures of ourselves there.

Work Shower
Mark and I had the last of our big, planned showers last week and here are some of the pictures. It was so nice of all of our friends to come and support us. Well, I'm not sure if it's support or pity at the thought of twins! Ha. Anyway, it sure was fun and our hostesses, Tami and Sydney, did such a great job! We have some truly wonderful friends.

This is the most amazing cake! Our friend Marcia made this. She's too talented for words. And - it also TASTED good.
Mom and Dad to be wearing our medals

Mark was a little late, so Andrew filled in as a surrogate father in the meantime.

The Girls' Nursery (Phase 1)
The paint is done and the crib has been assembled. Mark even carried the glider and ottoman up from the basement. That's right - by himself. Back off ladies, he's mine. Although there is still a lot of work to do (dresser, wall art, etc), it's nice to see the nursery finally making some progress. The wall color is absolutely stunning in person and goes really well with all the white and sage we have in the room. We will keep you posted, but for now, here are a few pictures to give you an idea of the progress.

Topeka Shower
Another great shower this weekend in Topeka! The girls are getting so many wonderful things for their nursery. And the clothes are so adorable, I just can't believe what a fan of pink I'm becoming! Here are some fun pictures from Saturday.
Here are my hostesses - Carley and Kelly Zimmerman and Pat Dickinson

Grandma Starr - up from Oklahoma for the day - what a trooper!

The girls' lake outfits

My Black Irish family - Casey and Mary Kennedy and Sara Wright

What kind of trouble are THESE two stirring up?

Comparing bellies with my friend, Zann. She's 3 days ahead of me.
So much fun. Thank you everyone!!!

KC Shower
This past weekend was the first baby shower for the girls. Lots of KC family and friends attended and it was a fantastic time. The food was scrumptious and we received tons of wonderful gifts that the girls are sure to enjoy when they get here. Thank you everyone - especially my gracious hostesses - Laurie Dack, Jen Ray, and Molly Moore!!
Tell me those petit fours don't look yummy! I can assure you, they WERE!
